Unfit for Duty

The new National Security Advisor – Lieutenant General Herbert Raymond McMaster – and the Counter-Terrorism advisor to the President of the United States – Sebastian Gorka – both unequivocally state the “terrorist” threat America faces has nothing to do with “true” Islam.

Both men are catastrophically wrong and, therefore, are leading America down a disastrous road towards defeat.

The New York Times, Guardian, and CNN all report Lt General McMaster told members of the National Security Council Thursday he felt “radical Islamic terrorism” was an unhelpful way to describe terrorism because becoming a terrorist is actually “un-Islamic” in the first place.

In a talk he gave at the Center for Strategic and International Studies in May 2016, LtGen McMaster said, “There is a cycle going on where groups like ISIL, who use this irreligious ideology, you know, this perverted interpretation of religion to justify violence, they depend on ignorance and the ability to recruit vulnerable segments of populations to foment hatred, then use that hatred to justify violence against innocents.”

This is incoherent and factually wrong.  LtGen McMaster wrote a book entitled “Dereliction of Duty.”  He may want to look in the mirror to see if he is doing the same thing in this war he accused President Johnson of doing in Vietnam.

100% of all Islamic doctrine, from elementary, junior high, and high school Islamic text books as well as the highest authorities in Islamic jurisprudence, to include Al Azhar University in Egypt, all clearly and doctrinally state Islam is a “complete way of life (social, cultural, political, military, religious)” governed by sharia (Islamic Law).  100% of all sharia mandates jihad until the world is under Islamic rule, and 100% of sharia only defines “jihad” as warfare against non-Muslims.

“The duty of the Muslim citizen is to be loyal to the Islamic state.”

What Islam is All About  (most widely used junior high text book in U.S. Islamic schools)

The violence Al Qaeda, ISIS, the Muslim Brotherhood, the Boston bombers, the attackers in Paris, the Fort Lauderdale shooter, and all the jihadis we have faced over the past 20 years quote authoritative Islamic doctrine in support of what they do.  Al Qaeda and ISIS have never misquoted sharia in furtherance of their actions.

In the last 15 years it has been made clear – the more muslims study Islam and sharia, the more likely they are to support and participate in jihad.

So the questions remains…what the hell is Lieutenant General McMaster talking about because he is not talking truthfully about a real and present danger to these United States?  He is doing exactly what our enemy wants him to do – creating an imaginary target for us to chase while our real enemy prepares to defeat us.

Nearly 16 years after 9/11, the Global Islamic Movement has taken down nations, expanded its power, and defeated the United States in the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq because leaders like McMaster decided they were too busy to stop and learn the enemy threat doctrine – Sharia – and instead have been given a counterfactual understanding of our enemy by Islamic advisors who are all batting for the other team.

The President’s Counterterrorism advisor, Sebastian Gorka, is “over the moon” LtGen McMaster is the new National Security Advisor.  However, Gorka’s lack of honesty about the Islamic threat raises much more serious questions.

Some have been lulled into believing he is on the right track because he uttered the word “jihad” but defeating this enemy takes more than pretending to know what you are talking about.

Speaking at CPAC this past weekend, Gorka stated:  “Zuhdi (Jasser) knows it better than anybody because he understands that this isn’t about poverty or lack of education. It’s about people who are fighting for the soul of Islam – not a war with Islam, but a war inside Islam; as King Abdullah, as General Sisi has said, for which version is going to win.”

Utter nonsense.  There is one version of Islam and one Sharia.  To say otherwise is to be factually wrong, but also dangerous when national strategies are being built off that utter nonsense.

When one’s duties include national security responsibilities, one has a professional duty to know the enemy or do due diligence to know the enemy.  To fail to do so makes one professionally negligent in one’s duties.  When people die (Ft Lauderdale, Boston, Orlando, Ft Hood…) because a person is unprofessional in his/her duties it is called “criminal negligence” and doctors and lawyers go to jail for such behavior.

Several years ago at a town hall presentation hosted by Washington, D.C. radio station WMAL, Sebastian Gorka stated “99.9% of muslims do not support terrorism (jihad)” despite a mountain of evidence and polling data proving this comment untrue, and the fact the entire purpose of Islam is to wage jihad until the world is dominated by Islamic rule (sharia).

Dr. Gorka also writes in his book, Defeating Jihad, we are not at war with Islam (p.129) but our enemy is “the ideology of takfiri jihad” (p.123).

No muslim jihadi who fought on the battlefields of Afghanistan, Iraq or anywhere else, nor any of the jihadis who have died in Europe in the United States attacking us nor the jihadis we have arrested have said they are “takfiri jihadis.”  They have said they are “Muslims” waging “Jihad in the cause of Allah” to “establish a caliphate under sharia.”

This is what Islamic doctrine commands them to do.

On page 144 of his book, Gorka ends with the call for the United States to spend billions of dollars supporting “Muslim reformers” in their “ideological war to delegitimize the message of holy war against the infidel and bolster modern interpretations of Islam.”  This demonstrates Sebastian Gorka is either completely free of any clue of Islamic doctrine or is intentionally lying about what Islam actually teaches.
Since these ideas and strategies to use “moderate Muslims” to ensure the “other version” of Islam wins are based in fantasy not reality, these policies will necessarily fail – and have failed the United States for 15 years.
Is that Dr. Gorka’s intention?  Does he not know that strategies to win a war must be based in the reality of who the enemy is?  Why would Sebastian Gorka put forth such and idea when he knows what he is saying is untrue?
Is it possible Dr. Gorka has remained strategically incoherent for 15 years during this global war?  Is he working on behalf of some outside entity to intentionally mislead the President of the United States, or is he is simply putting his paycheck ahead of the American people and his duty.
The United States will lose this war against the Global Islamic Movement if we do not clearly define the enemy and target the enemy.  We cannot hit a target we do not identify and cannot defeat an enemy we do not target.
Our warfighting doctrine calls for an analysis of our enemy based on how the enemy defines itself.  We begin our analysis there.  Something we have not done since 9/11/01.  If we did, our entire national security apparatus, including our military, would have been studying and teaching authoritative sharia and more of our soldiers, Marines, sailors, and airmen would be alive today because of it.
Keeping LtGen McMaster and Sebastian Gorka in their current positions will ensure America remains strategically incoherent and will guarantee our defeat in this war against the Global Islamic Movement.
As always, this war will be won or lost at the local level because our federal government is still failing us.

  1. Thank you for this clarifying article, I turn to you and Stephen Coughlin as true experts of Islam, sharia law and the MB. I know Gorka has made many appearances on other websites and the news media, and I was curious as to his background. I am very disheartened to see President Trump as actually uninformed at this poin,t but reading the statement he has made is a backtracking, I did not expect to see with Trump and his selection of Mc Master. Now what?

The influence of Pence on Trump may be the problem…since looking at the state of Indiana and it’s mosques…it appears that Pence has taken the bait. You know it is incredible to comprehend how leaders all seem to fall in line and follow the wrong trail especially when the information is out there to understand the problem. Steve Bannon I thought was the surprising selection and influence….toward getting the facts, but now I think he will go the way of accommodation or he will have to speak up to inform Trump of the error….I hope. But know I have a chill of fear and disappointment, and I can’t imagine how he missed two knowledgeable people such as Stephen and John.

  2. Thank you for writing this article. It was a sad day when Gorka was chosen as an adviser. But it was confirmation of your repeated claim that Subject Matter Experts are often not what they claim to be. This has been your warning for quite some time. We can see now the insanity of Gorka’s advice in the nomination of McMaster who opposes everything Trump has stood for on the campaign trail even til today. Thank you John for being that patriot stands tall and says what is right and important.

  3. I am heartened that I am not alone in my thoughts. I thought I was the “odd man out” for not being a LtG McMaster sycophant. Education never trumps common sense and it does not take some one with LtG McMaster’s education to discern the truth. Islamism is not compatible with Americanism. Sharia is not compatible with the U.S.Constitution. Our war is with Islam. Islam.s war is with us.The United States is a Christian nation (badly in need of a Revival -but a Christian nation none-the-less).A new Crusade is called for. These are the non-politically correct truths. LtG McMaster and Sebastian Gorka do not accept these truths and are the wrong people to have in their positions if we want the Federal government to persecute this war effectively.
I was hoping Donald Trump would see through this nonsense and appoint people with similar views. Unfortunately some of his appointments, these two in particular, will do nothing but obfuscate the truth and bog down the agenda.
I concur with “underbed cat” that Mike Pence may be the causative agent here and is actively diluting the agenda. I would like to know exactly what his brand of Christianity is. I think he has been misinformed somewhere along the way.
This will indeed be a local fight. As will most, if not all, of the upcoming battles.

  4. To add insult to injury, hawkish army veteran McMaster is also very anti-Russian, and actually considers Russia the PRIMARY threat to US interests and global stability, rather than the growing and spreading Islamic caliphate.

These are disturbing appointments, to be sure.

  5. It would be a mistake to discount how serious this is and to gloss it over with platitudes. But misdirection and not revealing oneself to the enemy has value. To me, openly declaring a war on Islam is like declaring a war on depression and unhappiness. As a war on an idea, it can not be conclusively won at all. Why give them fuel for outrage? They are already murderously insane and are incapable of useful participation in debate, discussion of any dimension, much less add to or otherwise advancing a productive global civilization.

So, I wouldn’t discount Ghorka too quickly. I may be wrong, but I see his point as one where the over-riding approach is to work towards Islam defeating to disabling itself internally. All the pieces of internal destruction have been there all along.

    • Buddy, I appreciate your comments but want to clarify something very important – Islam is not an ideology. Islam defines itself as a “complete way of life (social, cultural, political, religious, military)” governed by sharia. The stated purpose of Islam is to wage jihad until the entire world is under a caliphate governed by sharia. Islam is the threat. Sharia adherent Muslims are a threat. A threat that must be met and defeated. While we can disagree on how to defeat this enemy, it must be defeated as it was in Tours, Lepanto, and Vienna. Freedom, prosperity, and peace all depend on it. JG

  6. Trump has very little time to wake up to the fact he has two totally pro-Muslims in the midst of his so-called “experts.” America does not have a chance with this scum sitting on the left and right of President Trump.

  7. OPINION:

Arthur Conan Doyle’s diagnostics professor at medical school, Doctor Bell, taught him that once the impossible has been eliminated from ones search for a pathological cause, whatever remains, regardless of how hard it may be to believe, must be the truth. Thus, to this day, though the phrase “its elementary my dear Watson” has never actually appeared per se in any of Conan Doyle’s world-renowned Sherlock Holmes novels, the method continues to serve as a valuable multi-faceted mnemonic, including with regard to seemingly insoluble crimes.

In the immediate aftermath of 9/11 for example, if the president of the United States hadn’t authorized the “escape”, and make no mistake, that’s what it was, of the only material witnesses on earth potentially able to provide any meaningful testimony relating to the 3000 Twin-Tower terrorist homocides carried out by sharia-adherent, Sunni Saudi-Arabians, who if Special Agents of the FBI’s counterintelligence section hadn’t been willfully denied by same said official the opportunity to question said core members of the Osama bin Laden clan prior to their being allowed to depart Boston’s Logan Airport aboard a Ryan Air flight as though they were nothing more than a group of thirteen tourists, the cover-up which has existed in excess of fifteen years and immersed the country in a damnable net of bogus “denial” in order to ensure that the self-serving liars who feared the result of a proper investigation would never face justice, would never have happened. And although murder investigations are not subject to a “statute of time limitation” the self-serving liars whose silence prevents an immediate & much needed official declaration of war with Islam, the same individuals – whose identities anyone with the I.Q. of a thermometer is aware of – appear to have erected a matrix of omnidirectional catch-22s across U.S. Judicial system, which is the legal equivalent with respect to avoiding retribution of “gotchya”.

More to the worrying dilemma: anyone who doubts that Lieutenant General Herbert Raymond McMaster is unfit to serve as National Security Advisor notwithstanding his demonstrable loss of touch with contextual reality, and thus would pose a threat not only to the safety of combat personnel, AGAIN, but to anyone who doesn’t live amid multiple concentric circles of high-tech security – as do, incidentally, our political “leaders” – should peruse his & General Petraeus’ Wikipedia pages regarding the results of their remotely controlled collaboration in connection with the revision of the so-called rules-of-engagement, which resulted – among other treasonous decisions – in combat personnel being ordered to start having tea with the locals, rather than insulting any more Muslims, thus being killed & maimed in spiraling numbers.

On the other hand, John McCain, the one-man demolition team with five U.S. Navy airplanes & 134 aircraft-carrier crewmember lives to his credit, not to mention the 161 others who were concomitantly maimed by the loss of arms, legs & eyesight (and all-time favorite banquet guest of the Military-Industrial-Congressional-Complex); plus Time magazine; and FOX NEWS contributors, former Army vice-Chief, General (retired) Jack Keane, who like the president’s Counter-Terrorism Advisor Sebastian Gorka is also a proxy voice of who signs his checks, are presumably all big fans of the general; as are, I suspect, the entire left-wing of the presstitution industry.

Furthermore, if General McMaster had been paying more attention to the peoples business, rather than garnering titles & medals, he might be cognizant of the fact, as UTT points out, that Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Turkey’s incumbent president, and only declared contender for caliphal succession, has ANGRILY asserted publically that the “term moderate Islam is ugly and offensive. There is no moderate Islam. Islam is Islam.” And the fact that he (the General) obviously doesn’t know that, points to malfeasance on stilts.

  8. McMasters whatever he has to say publicly won’t be a problem in practice.
He has never been the problem in practice. Nor is he afraid to buck the system.

    I don’t know about Gorka.

As for Trump he is the Champion we’ve got and the only one we have – take the train.
If Trump has erred and it costs him and us be sure he’ll correct his ways.

As far as Islam being a mortal enemy yes, but that’s nothing new.

Let actual men be in office and over time you’ll see a difference.
For God’s sake if this was Clinton then Perez would be NSA. Cheer up.
This is winning, it just takes time.

  9. You’ve got that right. They would be coming for us right now. I have Muslim friends and spent time in Kuwait teaching Muslim women to run for office and teaching the Iraqi women how to run their 2006 elections. I assure you, they do not feel apart of this radical, anti woman Islam.

  10. Is there not a way UTT can have an audience with President Trump to address this matter to erase any misunderstanding on his part of the reality of what Islam is all about?

  11. Thank you! for disclosing these positions held by Dr.Gorka and General McMaster. I wrote to Dr. Gorka this morning – included the link to your article – and look forward to his reply:

“We are fortunate to finally have a President of the United States who understands the threat of Islam better than any others in my lifetime – evidence his own statements and selection of yourself as an adviser. However, are you encouraging President Trump to keep the true nature of Islam foremost in his mind? I’ve finally dedicated myself to fully understanding Islam and the role of its adherents and feel sorry for a Dr. Zuhdi Jasser, for example, who sees reformation as a possibility.

I am not unsympathetic to any politician, yourself included, who must walk that fine line between a palatable position and the truth about Islam. But it’s important to me to know that my president knows the truth, whether or not he speaks it in public.”

If I can see, and agree with you, that Islam is THE threat to the world, surely a thinking General McMasters who can read, and who is probably bombarded by informed Islam experts like you (I am not being sarcastic), will come to the understanding of the threat that Islam proposes to the world. The same for Mr. Gorka.

  13. Great point. We can defeat an enemy we haven’t properly named. The same can be said for the communist/progressives who are behind the Islamic invasion. It is a match made in hell.

  18. It’s being said above, “why aren’t (the relevant) people more aware of the Threat since information is easily available.”

    But is it really?

We here at our Institute, in our own research on the Threat, had to dig and sift and winnow and re-examine, and look again and finally see who is veracious, who is propagandistic (subtly!), who is an apologist. We also had to control our cognitive plus emotional responses (including “know not just the enemy, but one’s own biases”) to this living nightmare.

Perhaps Gorka and McMaster are all too human here also.

Also bad, the rank and file of citizens today, no time and energy, no research-skills, or they go to a mosque “interfaith” Open House and you know what they get. One-sided propaganda they have no way of knowing it’s propaganda. Or they read Esposito or Armstrong or N. Lane etc. and “do not know that they do not know.”

Donald Rumsfeld was guffawed at for his model “known knowns,” “known unknowns,” and “unknown unknowns.” But actually a useful model. We here at the Institute would only add: “a mis- or non-known you THINK you of-course know but you sure as hell do NOT.” And all to our extreme detriment…!
