On September 10, 2019, leaders of the Muslim Reform Movement including Mohamed Zuhdi Jasser, Asra Nomani and Shireen Qudosi held an event in Minneapolis Minnesota titled “Honoring Islam by Taking on the Appalling Questions.”
This event was sponsored by the University of Minnesota Bulldog Republicans, and hosted by Ayah Abuserrieh, President of the University of Minnesota Muslim Students Association.
Jasser, Nomani and Qudosi consider themselves “moderate muslims” and tell audiences their understanding of Islam is based on the way they were raised as children.
Educated citizen warriors who attended this event asked honest questions to the reformers, many of which went unanswered.
UTT Train the Trainer graduate Marni Hockenberg of Minneapolis, Minnesota asked if the panel members believe Islam can be reformed.
Nomani answered she believes religion is what people practice.
Jasser, who identifies himself as a “devout muslim,” believes the “current sharia” is filled with 14 centuries of human error from bad translations of the Koran, and advises the Koran does not need to be reformed, but the human interpretation of the Koran does.
There is no such thing as past sharia and current sharia, there is just sharia, which mandates jihad until the world is under the rule of the sharia, and there is no other legal definition of “Jihad” in Sharia other than “warfare against non-Muslims.” Jihad is warfare against non-muslims.
One audience member shared there is only one version of Islam/sharia and that it is a capital crime for muslims to leave Islam.
Nomani agreed violent verses are in the Koran but her belief is that the “difficult verses need to be confronted.”
“Fight and slay the unbeliever wherever you find them, capture and besiege them, and lie in wait for them in each and every ambush.” (Koran 9:5)
Mohammad: “I have been commanded to fight people until they testify there is no god but Allah and Mohammad is the Messenger of Allah” (Hadith reported by Bukhari and Muslim)
Nomani believes in an Islam of grace.
Grace is not principle or concept in Islam/sharia.
Nomani told the audience the main reason to reform Islam is because it is “here to stay” and “will not be eliminated from earth” because there are too many Muslims.
Nomani’s message to young muslims: They do not need to follow the “cookie cutter interpretation” of Islam. Nomani believes the way her parents raised her is “Islam of grace” and she wants to honor it while fighting for the verses in the Koran she believes in, but not all the verses.
While Nomani’s desire may be sincere, her “version” of Islam is universally rejected in Islam.
When another audience member asked about “taqiyya” and “lying” in Islam, Nomani advised “I don’t accept that (referring to taqiyya).”
Jasser said taqiyya is “religious pandering” explaining you say one thing to one group and something else to another.
“It is permissible to lie if attaining the goal is permissible…and obligatory to lie if the goal is obligatory.”—Um Dat al Salik, Islamic Sacred Law (Reliance of the Traveller)
When members of the audience referenced the authoritative book of Islamic law Reliance of the Traveller, Jasser, Qudosi, and Nomai advised they want to get rid of it because “it’s full of hate” but did not address its authority in Islam.
Nomani acknowledged she recently bought a copy of Reliance of the Traveller at an ISNA (Islamic Society of North America) conference.
It is worth noting ISNA is identified by the U.S. Department of Justice as a member of the U.S. Muslim Brotherhood which directly funds the terrorist group Hamas. Reliance of the Traveller is displayed and sold at ISNA conferences because it authoritative Islamic Law (sharia).
Reliance of the Traveller is published in Beltsville, Maryland, and legally defines “Jihad” as “warfare against non-Muslims” (Book O, Justice) and makes it obligatory until the world is under the rule of the Sharia.
There is no authoritative book of Islamic law or any Islamic school text used in the United States – or elsewhere for that matter – which teaches muslims to adhere to America’s founding principles or U.S. law. In fact, the most widely used junior high school text book in U.S. Islamic schools, What Islam is All About, states: “The duty of Muslim citizens is to be loyal to the Islamic State.”
When “moderate muslims” discuss Islam and deny the legal requirement in Islam for muslims to wage war against non-muslims, they either lack an understanding of Islam/sharia or they are lying.
Desite the fact the purpose of Islam is to establish an Islamic State ruled by “Allah’s divine law”/sharia, Mohamed Zuhdi Jasser told the crowd at the September 10th event he wants to end the idea of an Islamic State while protecting freedom and liberty by separating mosque and state. These comments constitute capital crimes in Islam.
Jasser continued by explaining his group gets push back from Islamic leaders because he is not an Islamic scholar, yet he still wants to create a new Islamic school of thought compatible with the Constitution.
Good patriots of Minnesota pointedly continue to ask if America should use a factual and realistic assessment of Islam to determine real threats to America’s national security, or fantasies created in the minds of individuals who self-identify as muslim based on their desires and feelings.
The Muslim Reform Movement’s website states: “We seek to reclaim the progressive spirit with which Islam was born in the 7th century to fast forward it to the 21st century.” If this is true, the Muslim Reform Movement is a dangerous threat to liberty because in the 7th century Islam’s idea of “progressive” was the example of Mohammad, who married a six year old, tortured, pillaged, participated in beheading hundreds of Jews, encouraged the taking of sex-slaves in battle, told the muslims Allah commanded him to wage war against non-muslims, and waged war against non-muslims.
The Muslim Reform Movement and its leaders divert peoples’ attention away from reality – doctrinal Islam and its barbaric punishments which enslave people – by creating a fantasy-Islam which is comprised of grace, love, and mercy…concepts foreign to Islam, even though people who self-identify as “muslim” want them to be real.
Professional analysis of real threats and the duty of U.S. national security officials on the National Security Council, the Department of Defense, and U.S. intelligence agencies demand – 18 years after 9/11 – that facts analyzed in reality determine threats, not fantasy.
Islam is the threat. Sharia is the doctrine.
