Understanding the Threat is pleased to offer our popular Combat Shooting and Security Course with John Guandolo and Ric Neumann. The two-day course will take place on Saturday and Sunday, November 9-10 in Culpeper, Virginia. New and intermediate shooters will acquire basic combat handgun shooting skills, learn proven techniques for securing one’s family and oneself, and practical, scenario-based considerations and decision-making skills.
Trainees who complete the course will gain:
- Basic combat handgun shooting skills;
- Effective techniques for ensuring one’s own and family members’ personal security;
- Understanding of critical planning considerations and decision-making skills applicable to a variety of threat scenarios.
Combat Shooting Skills (includes 8-10 hours on the shooting range).
Training review and practical application to reinforce shooting skills. This module will include hands-on exercises using
multiple scenarios designed to reinforce student’s knowledge of security considerations, skill in situational awareness,
split-second decision-making ability (to shoot or not-to-shoot), and knowledge of tactical techniques.
PREREQUISITESAll trainees should possess basic weapons handling skills and be proficient in the basic functioning of their handgun. Trainees should
also be in reasonably good physical condition.
ABOUT THE INSTRUCTORS
John Guandolo brings a wealth of operational planning and security experience. As a 1989 graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy, John spent 6½ years as an Infantry and Reconnaissance Officer in the United States Marine Corps that included combat tours in Operations Desert Storm and Desert Shield. Mr. Guandolo is certified as “Special Operations Capable” by the US Marine Corps and has led Marines in combat. John joined the FBI as a Special Agent in 1996. During his twelve-year tenure at the FBI, John was a member of the Bureau’s SWAT Team, including three years as SWAT Team Leader for the Washington Field Office for which he wrote the SWAT Standard Operating Procedure (SOP). He has led FBI tactical units in support of numerous high-risk domestic and overseas raids. Following the bombings of the U.S. Embassies in Kenya and Tanzania in 1998, John deployed to Africa and after the events of 9/11, to the Pentagon. As an Advanced Capability Medic, John taught “Care Under Fire” to FBI
Agents who were about to deploy. As a leading national security expert on terrorism in the United States, Mr. Guandolo also advises
foreign governments on related security issues.
Ric Neumann is a US Marine Corps veteran who served in combat operations in Vietnam. Ric was cross-trained by the US Secret Service when he was stationed at Camp David. He is also a former Army Officer.
